Program purpose Introduces certified Open Water divers to five SSI specialty experiences to broaden skills and fuel interest in further training. Focus is practical, under direct supervision of an SSI Professional. Student prerequisites Minimum age: 12. Must hold Open Water Diver certification (SSI or equivalent). Duration Recommended 10–15 hours (instructor may adjust based on student ability and conditions). Training dives Total: 5 open-water training dives. Mandatory (2): Deep Diving (Dive 1) and Navigation (Dive 1). Elective (choose 3 from list): Altitude, Boat, Cavern/Cenote, Computer, DPV*, Dry Suit*, Ecology, Enriched Air Nitrox, Night & Limited Visibility, Perfect Buoyancy, Photo & Video, Sidemount*, Search & Recovery, Waves/Tides/Currents, Wreck. (*) Notes: Some electives (DPV, Dry Suit, Sidemount) may have specific equipment/conditions. Depth limits General maximum: 30 m. Ages 12–14: max 21 m for Deep Dive. Deep Diving dive must be completed successfully before any other training dives deeper than 18 m. Certification and privileges Instructor issues digital certification after meeting all academic and in-water requirements. Certified divers may dive with an equally or more qualified buddy to the program depth limits (30 m). Junior divers (<15): certified as Junior Advanced Open Water Diver with 21 m depth limit; must dive under direct professional supervision or with a certified adult. At age 15, juniors can upgrade to full (21–30 m) limits by completing an upgrade dive with an Open Water Instructor.
