Why Fuvahmulah Attracts Rare Marine Life

Fuvahmulah’s unique geographical position in the Deep South of the Maldives places it directly along deep ocean currents and pelagic migration routes. Known globally as the Tiger Shark Capital of the Maldives, the island regularly offers encounters with tiger sharks, thresher sharks, and other pelagic species. The appearance of both whale sharks and orcas within a short period further reinforces Fuvahmulah’s status as one of the most dynamic marine ecosystems in the region.

This orca sighting was not just a rare marine encounter it was a moment of shared happiness for the entire community. Guests and locals alike expressed awe, gratitude, and excitement, reinforcing the deep connection between Fuvahmulah and the ocean that surrounds it.
