At Fuvahmulah Scuba Club, we’ve crafted a daily dive schedule designed to give our guests the best underwater experiences while leaving them ample time to unwind and explore the island. With world-class dive sites, including the famous Tiger Shark Point, every day here is a unique adventure. Here’s a look at how we plan and execute our dives.

Daily Dive Schedule

We conduct three dives daily, with schedules varying slightly throughout the week:

  • Monday to Thursday & Saturday: Our dives start in the morning and run straight through until the early afternoon. For instance, if the first dive begins at 7:00 AM, we typically wrap up around 2:00 PM. This structure ensures our guests have the rest of the day to relax, explore Fuvahmulah, or simply enjoy the island’s natural beauty.
  • Fridays: On Fridays, we adjust our schedule to accommodate the team’s attendance at the Friday afternoon prayer. We complete two dives in the morning, take a lunch break, and then head out for the third dive in the afternoon.

Why We Don’t Have a Fixed Schedule

Unlike some other dive centers, we don’t stick to a rigid schedule. Instead, we adapt each day based on several factors, most notably the tiger dive timing.

Tiger Dive Timing Tiger Point is located at the entrance of the harbor, a shared dive area for all operators on the island. Because of this, we receive different time slots for the tiger dive each day. This might sound limiting, but it actually allows us to remain flexible and responsive to:

  • Changing currents and weather conditions.
  • Guest preferences for specific dive sites or marine life encounters.

To ensure the best experience, we finalize our schedule one day in advance and share it with our guests during dinner. This helps us make the most accurate predictions about weather and tide conditions.

  • Duration: Each dive lasts around 45 minutes.
  • Surface Intervals: Between dives, we return to the island for a surface interval of 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the depth of the previous dive. This time is vital for divers’ safety, especially since we dive on air.

Guests can spend their surface interval either:

  • Relaxing on the boat, where we provide coffee, tea, water, and fruits.
  • Visiting nearby harbor cafés or restaurants for a quick snack. This flexibility is especially appreciated on rougher days when stepping onto land helps avoid seasickness.

A Typical Day of Diving

Each day includes at least one tiger dive and two reef dives. Here’s what a standard day might look like:

  1. First Dive – Thresher Shark Encounter We often start with a deep dive to one of the cleaning stations, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive Thresher Sharks as they come in for their morning cleaning rituals.
  2. Second Dive – Tiger Dive The tiger dive is the highlight of every trip, offering a thrilling and safe opportunity to observe these majestic sharks up close in their natural habitat.
  3. Third Dive – Reef Exploration The final dive varies depending on conditions and guest preferences. It could involve another attempt at seeing Threshers or a classic reef dive with encounters like turtles, lobsters, tunas, jacks, and more.

Why Our Schedule Works

By structuring our dives this way, we strike a balance between adventure and relaxation. Guests experience the thrill of diving some of the world’s most renowned sites while having plenty of time to enjoy Fuvahmulah’s charm. Whether it’s a walk along the beach, visiting local landmarks, or simply soaking in the island vibe, there’s always something to look forward to after a day of diving.
