On December 14, 2025, our guests experienced a rare and remarkable whale shark sighting in the waters of Fuvahmulah Island, located in the Deep South of the Maldives.

Fuvahmulah is internationally known as the Tiger Shark Capital of the Maldives, famous for its year-round tiger shark encounters, deep pelagic dives, and unique oceanic conditions. While encounters with tiger sharks and other pelagic species are frequent, whale shark sightings in Fuvahmulah are uncommon, making this observation particularly special.

The sighting occurred during a guided dive day operated by Fuvahmulah Scuba Club, when the whale shark appeared gracefully from the blue, allowing guests to observe its calm movement and impressive size. The encounter was conducted responsibly, following strict safety protocols and marine-life interaction guidelines to ensure both diver safety and conservation ethics.
